There are two different prices for the Hot Topic edition of We Can Never Go Home #1, one priced at $5.99 and another with a cover price of $4.50. The $5.99 priced copies appear to be error copies and there does not appear to be any recall involved here as it seems that they were never actual sold by Hot Topic (only the ones price at $4.50 appear to have been sold by them and was even reduced to $3.37 in their web store at one stage).
Anecdotal evidence seems to support two reasons for the $5.99 copies: one that Hot Topic originally had $5.99 as the price but then changed their minds at the last minute and secondly that the $5.99 price was printed in error. In either case it seems that writer Matthew Rosenberg managed to obtain an advance batch of $5.99 "error copies" and sold these to fans at the NYCC comic con.
In late November 2015, CGC had recorded 12 gradings of these (all 9.8, including 9 on signature series) and have the variant noted as the "Hot Topic/Error Edition" with additional label text stating: "Manufactured with incorrect cover price".
